GOOD EDUCATION
(La buona educazione)

Italian Playwrights Project 3th edition (2020/22)

Synopsis

Good education stems from a number of questions: which values, subjects and ideas should we pass on to other human beings? Who are the actors of this content sharing? What is the purpose of these values, subjects and ideas? What do they prepare us for?

Good education tells the story of a woman, an aunt, who, because of the unexpected death of her sister, “inherits” her nephew, who she has to take care of for the first time in her solitary life. The reader finds himself following the adventures of this woman who has to face the hardship of someone having to create a bond, a relationship with a young boy, the last heir of her family. The aunt has to host him in her life, in her home, in her mind. She has to educate him, plan his future, she has to take part in the upbringing of a young man. Will she be good up for the job?

Between custody battles, nighttime visits of family ghosts, human-shaped lamps to fall in love with, soul x-ray, popular juries online, crises caused by the absence of electricity and memories, the aunt ends up creating a deep bond with her nephew, a feeling that, she will discover, is not mutual.
